wedding bouquet tips
bouquet tips & tricks
There is a correct way to hold your bouquet! It will certainly be one of the most highly photographed floral designs from your wedding so make sure you’re doing it justice. Your designer has spent lots of time selecting the best blooms and arranging it perfectly for you to walk down the aisle with.
Holding your bouquet
Tilt the stems towards you so the blooms become the focus. We always cut our stems very short so this will feel comfortable and the stems will be out of the way. Hold your bouquet low by your bellybutton so you don’t block your stunning dress.
Keep it fresh
Make sure you to keep your bouquet in water whenever you’re not using it in photos or during the ceremony. Bring the vase with water if you’ll be moving around to take photos. This is especially important during the warm summer months when your flowers may be exposed to intense sun and heat. Most times, your designer will use some particularly delicate blooms for your wedding bouquet such as sweet peas, garden roses, and jasmine vine. These will fare better when kept in water throughout the day.
Silk finish
We tie our bouquets with premium hand-dyed silk for a luxurious finish. There are three primary ways to do this: simply wrapped, a loose bow, or leave it long and trailing. Talk to your designer about some possible color options depending on your palette. We love sourcing our ribbon from Silk & Willow. The ribbon knot indicates the front of the bouquet, but if your stems are simply wrapped in silk then we’ll put a pearl pin in the back to indicate the direction.
Size & shape
We typically create medium-sized bouquets that are suitable for anyone regardless of their height and so they don’t distract from your beautiful face. However, we can adjust the bouquet somewhat depending on your preferences. Chat with your designer if you have preferences regarding the size, shape, and style of your bouquet and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
Other personal flowers
We’ll create your boutonnieres, pocket squares, and wrist corsages for your wedding party and family members using similar textures to the bouquet. We create small, simple boutonnieres with exposed stems and finished with silk. Our wrist corsages are created on adjustable gold cuffs for a modern take. We want all the floral designs to feel cohesive and work together intentionally. Chat with us about other unique, modern personal flowers such as floral pocket squares, shoulder corsages, or floral tattoos.
