floral ideas for Seattle venues, pt. 1

Seattle-bound

ICYMI, Moonflower and the fam are moving to Seattle, Washington sometime in late 2022. We are super excited for this big move across the country and are ready to hit the ground running. Our books are officially open for 2023 weddings, elopement, and events in the Pacific Northwest. We’re available to travel all around the region and beyond.

Getting married in 2023? Let’s chat!

Seattle wedding venues

Moonflower is ready to create magic and connect with new couples, vendors, and venues in the Seattle area. There are so many gorgeous wedding and event venues in Seattle that we can’t wait to work in. We’ve rounded up just a small handful and included some floral design inspiration for each one.

The images below are (mostly) not our floral designs or photos, and are for inspiration purposes only. Please see our portfolio and wedding pages for examples of our work.

Sodo Park

Sodo Park is a stunning venue in the Sodo neighborhood of Seattle. We are so inspired by its soaring ceilings and charming industrial vibe. There are so many amazing ways that florals could elevate the space–here’s just a few ideas to get started.

  • lounge installation

  • full ceremony arch

  • modern elevated centerpieces

Zhush up your lounge vignettes with oversize floral arrangements mixed among vintage furniture and other decor. It creates an inviting space for guests and serves as the perfect photo backdrop as well. There are tons of ways to approach this type of lounge design depending on the layout. It’s the perfect way to make a statement at the wedding reception.

The huge ceilings at Sodo Park really lend itself to lush, jaw-dropping floral designs. It’s the perfect indoor setting to utilize a full arch design for the backdrop of your ceremony. Investing in your ceremony flowers will pay off since it’s one of the most highly photographed parts of your wedding day. This wild, lush arch would be stunning in this Seattle venue. There are lots of ceremony feature options that would work well in this space.

Willa Rose Floral

We almost always recommend creating more visual interest in your reception space but utilizing at least two different centerpiece designs. The classic way of doing this is mixing in elevated centerpieces with low compote arrangements. It creates a more dynamic space especially in such a large room such as the reception space at Sodo Park. We love a modern take on tall centerpieces—sorry, no round hydrangea balls over here. Flower-forward and artfully designed are the name of the game. They are always well overhead so that guests can see and talk to each other across the table.

Olympic Rooftop Pavilion

Olympic Rooftop Pavilion is lovely wedding venue in the trendy neighborhood of Ballard. The venue is within Hotel Ballard with gorgeous natural light and stunning views of the surrounding area. City rooftops will never not leave me in awe and I can’t imagine a more perfect place for a wedding celebration in Seattle. For this particular space, the key is to let the florals accent the venue without overtaking the beautiful views from the rooftop.

  • mantle/fireplace install

  • head table runner

  • half moon ceremony backdrop

Florals on a mantle or around a fireplace are gorgeous and inviting at any venue. This would be a perfect place to create a statement piece at the Olympic Rooftop Pavilion. The mantle installation is the star of the show, but then we can add some small arrangements around the lounge vignette to tie it all together. It will create a cozy space for your guests to relax and enjoy views of the city.

We love a luxurious head table design for your nearest and dearest. The natural feel of this inspiration photo has us swooning over the dimension and movement that’s been created. This design is a great solution for those with a long head table that want something low and unobtrusive. Floral runners are the flower-forward counterpart to a greenery garland.

This crescent moon ceremony arch is so modern and dreamy. It’s the perfect feature for a rooftop ceremony without obstructing the entire city view. We love the asymmetrical shape and lush flower-forward design. This ceremony feature would work in a variety of wedding venues in Seattle, both indoors and out.

The Loft at Russell’s

The gorgeous woodwork and vaulted ceilings would make for a romantic wedding venue with all the charm and character. The Loft at Russell’s takes a “barn” wedding to a whole new level. This Seattle event is is truly an architecture and design nerd’s dream. The soaring ceilings beg for floral designs that utilize the dramatic height to its advantage.

  • modern, lush ceremony feature

  • elevated table “runner”

  • aisle meadow

floral design by Floressence, photography by Lucy Cuneo

This epic color-blocked arch would look incredible at The Loft at Russell’s. The shape loosely mimics the vaulted ceilings and curved beams of the architecture. The arch has enough height so it won’t get lost in such a large space. The vibrant colors are gorgeous and would contrast nicely against the neutral wood tones.

Larger spaces generally warrant larger designs to make them feel less overwhelmingly huge. Adding height in the form of elevated centerpieces is a game changer. It adds so much dimension and visual interest in a reception space. We love this look of an elevated “floral runner” for a long head table or family table. Adding foliage and blooms underneath adds an extra special touch.

Nothing says luxury like a full blown aisle meadow that leads you to your betrothed. We love this overgrown wild look that creates a stunning ceremony space. The great thing about aisle meadows is they can be repurposed at the reception in many places. Some repurposing ideas are by the cake table, stage, newlyweds’ table, reception entrance, and many others.
