High fashion elopement photoshoot

As soon as I saw the color palette for this elopement photoshoot, I knew I had to join the vendor team. Bold colors, clean aesthetics, vintage objects, and lastly gold leaf makeup. ✨

For this photoshoot, I really embraced the idea of mixing very economical flowers with those considered more premium. I think if it’s done in a strategic way, then you can create a beautiful and impactful design for a liiiiiiiiiiiitle bit less.

I created several different elements for this photoshoot but we were able to repurpose the main ground installation in all 3 scenes so it worked out beautifully. I created tons of texture utilizing a fluffy fern that climbed up the gold vintage chair. We also used these pieces in the ceremony scene as well as a third still life scene. For the ground installation, I used several rose varieties, carnations, the aforementioned ferns, and some pink leptosperum to tie it all together.

I don’t think I will ever get over this bridal bouquet—it’s definitely one of my favorites that I’ve made thus far in my floral career. The color is really bold but it is so elegant. This is where I used more premium and mid-range flowers because the bridal bouquet is such a focal point in any photoshoot, wedding, or elopement. For the bouquet, I used anthurium, coral charm peonies, ranunculus, roses, and sweet peas. The bouquet was finished off with a gorgeous deep pink-magenta satin ribbon sourced by the planners. For my bridal bouquets, I used an improvised “nest” from curly willow tips to provide a structure for my stems. This method is borrowed from the brilliant Color Theory Design Co and creates a sustainable way to make beautiful bridal bouquets. At the end of the day, everything is compostable aside from a bit of wire that holds the curly willow base together.

In this shoot, because we had two brides … I knew had to make a really special floral piece to go with Britt’s fresh white suit. I love incorporating ideas from Passionflower Sue’s book, The Art of Wearable Flowers. I created a shoulder corsage to work seamlessly with the lapel of Britt’s suit. I love how it turned out and hope this catches on as a trend for more weddings and other formal events in place of a traditional boutonniere or corsage.

Also, the gold leaf makeup is such a beautiful touch. It was so artfully applied by our talented makeup artist to add the perfect unique touch. Both Nikki and Britt looked so gorgeous as our model brides.
