thanksgiving table inspo
I love Thanksgiving. So so much. I honestly have no recollection of what we even did last year, if anything, given that COVID was keeping most people at home. But really, I love how Thanksgiving is relatively simple and low-key, mostly revolving around lots and lots of delicious food.
Now that it’s a bit safer to gather in small groups, I’m really to go ALL OUT for Thanksgiving this year. And that means making a beautiful tablescape fit for a king. I’m talking flowers, foliage, fruit, pumpkins, candles. Moonflower can bring all that beauty and goodness to your Thanksgiving table as well.
I’ve put together some ideas of how a modern tablescape could be arranged for Thanksgiving your table this year.
flower-forward
Floral centerpieces will never go out of style and can be adjusted for the size and shape of your table. One arrangement in the middle is beautiful or add multiple arrangements down the center for a lush look. Need more space for sharing platters? Try adding in floral bud vases around the main arrangement for a a light and airy touch. You can pre-order Thanksgiving centerpieces from Moonflower at anytime or order ahead to bring one to your gracious host.
And here’s a few more ideas I pulled together from Pinterest to see how the whole look can come together. Need help with styling your Thanksgiving table to make this year extra special? Reach out and ask about our holiday styling services.
garlands & foliage
Garlands and greenery are another classic way to tackle decor on a long table. Easily adjustable and perfect for a more minimalist or rustic vibe. I love adding several different types of greenery into my garlands with a variety of contrasting textures. You can also try adding taper candles alongside it for extra warmth. Moonflower can make custom garlands for your Thanksgiving or holiday table—just ask!
Garlands are better suited for a buffet-style meal in which guests can serve themselves in a different location other than the dining table. I would love to see a Thanksgiving garland with interesting greens such as magnolia, grevillea, agonis, nandina, or honey bracelet. Some accent materials could be date palm berries, snowberries, silver brunia, or scabiosa pods. The sky is truly the limit with how to make a unique garland for your table.
I love the untraditional garland/hybrid floral runner shown above. It lays more horizontally, similar to a garland, but it’s materials are very flower-forward. I love the unique color palette of gold and green. It’s such a departure from the warm autumnal hues than are typically seen but still feels true to the season. I really think you can make any color palette work for the Thanksgiving holidays—just depends on your preference.
fruit & veg
Last but not least, we have fruits and vegetables—but make it decor! Adding these edible items to your table is beautiful and natural way to add some color. I’m all for utilizing decor items that are fully compostable and create as little waste as possible. Pumpkins are the obvious addition to a fall table but you could also try other seasonal items such as gourds, pomegranates, apples, pears and figs. Adding fruits and vegetables to wedding table designs is very on trend right now and can definitely translate to Thanksgiving tables perfectly. Personally, I love a good mix of fresh florals with produce sprinkled in—the colors and texture can play off of one another. Citrus fruit in vibrant yellow, pink and orange would be perfect with the emerald evergreen foliage like pine, cedar, and spruce. I think it would be a fun take on Christmas decor.
